Those of you who are taking the NISH option will want to click here. Others who are interested in finding more out about the Internet may also find it useful.
The details of this are not at present available as html. However the Word documents for all the notes are available here.
For those who want the answers to the tutorial questions on the ESIE semester 2 unit called Information Engineering they are now available.
Also the Integrated Engineering students who are working with Glasgow Caledonian University will find some useful pages.
I am the course leader for these courses. The on line version of the course handbook can be found here. You will need to know the login. Login as user rgh and the password is test.
If you would rather have a paper version, then the Word document can be downloaded
My desktop PC operates as an experimental webserver. Have a look here to see what is going on. It's got a webcam showing a picture of my office and other odds and ends. When you connect it will automatically take a picture and show the current state of the office. If you just get a black picture, then it means that no one is in. The office has no outside windows and hence is in darkness when the light is turned off!
I am a senior lecturer in the School of Engineering. My main area of interest
being communications. This reflected in my long standing interest in communications in
general, and radio in particular.
This is a particular interest of mine. If you want to know more then click here
Just to give you some idea of what it is all about here is a shot inside the "radio room" at home.
A coupe of years ago I bought a 1973 Triumph Stag reg no THN 419L. This is 4 seat
convertable which has a 3 litre V8 engine. The engine was only ever used in this model and
some spares can be a problem - for example cylinder heads. Whilst this has been restored,
it still needs a certain amount of work to get it into a condition that I can really rely
on it. So far I have completely rebuilt the rear suspension (new bushes, dampers etc),
complete overhaul of the differential (lots of leaky seals), replacement of all braking
components ( I mean all, including pipes). This next winter I intend to rebuild the front
suspension, which although it passed its annual test in August, still has lots of perished
rubber and generally the handling is not what it should be. Most of the time will be taken
de-rusting and painting all the components, it is boring hard work, but necessary to keep
it in good condition.
Here is a picture of it, see here for some more.
