Stables Family History
This collection of web pages represent the collected information I have gathered regarding my own personal family tree. In no way does it intend to be a full representation of all the Gunson family lines in existence and spreads across other family lines, including the "Stables" and "Gledhill" family histories.
I hope that you the visitor may find them informative and may help you in your researches for your ancestry.
The GUNSON Family Tree provides the ancestry of the decendants and other relatives of the Gunson's who lived in Eccesall Bierlow district of Sheffield (then Derbyshire) in the 19th century. As more information becomes available it is expected that the reationship links will expand to cover oither surnames. Already there is a major link with the Stables Family History through the marriage of John Robert Gunson in 1888 with Florence Emily Stables. Other surnames still to be fully researched are Gledhill, Foot or Foote, Nicholls, Horton and Rider.
Frederick Walter Gunson leaving the army in 1921?
"Dearest - I leave here to-night, and shall get home about Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Go to fort George first. Dont write back. Best love, your loving Hubby. Fred."
The front of the card has a handwritten inscription;
"Valleyfield Colliery May 1st 1921"
Frederick Walter Gunson was a Private in the Seaforth Highlanders, joining them sometime around 1910-1912, and leaving around 1921. He certainly served in India and through the 1st World War. It is believed he took a shrapnel hit to the leg at the Battle of the Somme. He was married to Nellie Gledhill, who was always known as Daisy for some reason within the family.
I think Frederick Walter Gunson is the one on the far right of the middle (seated) row in the dark vest, not in full uniform.
